What Causes Dry Skin
What's Causing Your Dry Skin
Winter Weather As the outside temperatures drop, so does the humidity levels and many of us find the dry air leaves us with dry itchy skin. Don't touch that thermostat! Indoor heating strips moisture from the air - and your skin. Control the Humidity A humidifier will help to keep the air most in your home. Keep the temperature at 68 to 75 degrees, and the humidifier between 45% and 55%.
Nix Hot Steam Showers
A steamy shower is tempting and soothing, but it doesn't do your skin any favors. It strips the natural oils and causes moisture to escape.
After your shower, towel dry your skin, but leave it a little bit moist and apply moisturizer to still-damp skin to seal in moisture.
Be Careful of Moisture Robbing Soaps
Not all soaps are created equal - if you're washing your skin with a harsh soap your skin's natural moisture barrier is going down the drain with the excess water.
Use a mild soap or body wash that moisturizes at it cleanses your skin.
Remember that your face needs to be treated different than your body - our facial cleansing gel with rosehips will leave
your face moisturized and it won't clog pores. Follow with a cream that contains hyaluronic acid to lock in the moisture.
