Skin Types

Why Are Skin Types Important

Skin has its own set of characteristics, and it's important to determine your basic skin type to make a proper decision about what type of skin care products to use. Different types of skin, and skin tone require different products to provide healthy skin. No one has perfect skin, but we can help you understand how to get clear skin.

Clear, healthy skin is glowing skin.

If you are having trouble determining which type of skin you have, try the skin type test. First thing in the morning, before washing your face, blot a tissue all over the skin. If there are oily spots on the tissue, you have oily skin or combination skin, depending on where your tissue picked up the oil. No oily spots, you have dry skin, or normal skin, and further determination of which of those will come from how your skin feels to you.

Once you determine your skin type, follow the regimen below using our medical grade, natural products to discover your new skin.

Oily Skin Types

Oily skin is the skin type that can have a lot of problems if not maintained properly, it is the skin that will show the least amount of aging.

Additional oily skin features:

  • prone to blemishes, blackheads and whiteheads
  • shiny mostly on T-zone
  • large visible pores
  • after washing, skin gets an oily build-up after only a couple of hours
  • oily film on face is present after sleeping
  • for women, make-up foundation only lasts a couple of hours
  • flakiness around the nose area due to dried excess oils
  • oily skin is slow to develop discolorations such as freckles, fine lines, and wrinkles as the skin ages
  • the skin tans easily

Dry Types of Skin

Opposite to oily skin, dry skin is another common type of problem skin. Dry Skin occurs when the oil glands do not produce a sufficient amount of oil to lubricate the skin properly, as a result, the skin becomes dehydrated, resulting in scaly skin, or dry itchy skin.

The various signs given below identify dry skin:

  • sometimes flaky or itchy
  • skin feels tight (especially after washing)
  • no greasy areas, looks dull
  • the skin may have red patches
  • in more severe cases, this skin problem will cause cracks in and bleeding of the skin
  • fine lines and wrinkles are evident
  • skin generally has fine pores

Combination Skin Types

Combination skin is the category most of us fall into and may include dry, normal or oily areas that may vary seasonally or with environmental changes.

The following characteristics can identify it:

  • the forehead, chin, and nose are oily (the T-zone area), but the cheeks and skin around the eyes can range from normal to dry
  • in another manifestation of combination skin, the skin may be oily along the chin, jaw line, and temples, but dry or normal elsewhere
  • skin pores are medium in size
  • overall the skin appears normal and healthy, not including those small affected areas that are too oily or dry

Sensitive Types of Skin

Sensitive skin is usually a dry skin that is sensitive to products and environment, and is easily irritated. It is often thin and fragile.

Sensitive skin can still fall into the oily, dry, problem or combination categories.

People with this skin type experience the following:

  • sensitivity to cosmetics (especially those that are heavily scented)
  • sometimes skin that flushes or blushes easily
  • rashes or red blotchy patches may develop on the skin if you spend time in excessive cold, hot or dry conditions, or if your skin is excessively exposed to the sun
  • certain skin care products also trigger rashes
  • broken blood vessels and capillaries are evident under the surface of the skin
  • this problem skin type usually has a fine texture
  • skin has fine pores

Normal Skin Types

Normal skin is the type of skin we all want, the one with the least amount of problems. It is supple and moist, without being oily.

The characteristics of an individual with a normal skin type are:

  • skin texture is even, soft, smooth, and plump
  • the skin is reasonably firm to the touch
  • the skin has good elasticity
  • no red or dark patches on the skin and the skin color is fairly even
  • pores of the skin are small to medium in size
  • blemishes are uncommon
  • in general the skin neither feels too oily or too dry
  • most quality skin care products do not irritate the skin
  • overall the skin looks vibrant and healthy

Enhance Your SkinCare Products

The Derma Rejuv Roller is a unique device which helps to rejuvenate your skin and naturally increase the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin. It is a hand held skin roller designed with surgical titanium micro needles, which gently roll over the skin and painlessly penetrate the skin's upper surface. The process is known as skin needling, or micro needling, and can be safely performed on all skin types and colors without causing any damage.

In order to rejuvenate the derma, roller needles penetrate the upper layer of skin, creating micro channels and temporarily opening the pores, which allow the active ingredients in your skin care products to absorb deeper into the skin. Otherwise, your skincare creams will sit on top of your face or on your pillow.

This simple but revolutionary treatment provides multiple benefits:

  • Maximizes effectiveness of skincare products up to 200%
  • The process is entirely painless
  • There is no damage to the skin
  • Icreases elastin and collagen production
  • Smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces pores size
